Pond & water feature cover

Posted by Lee Trout on

Covering a shaped pond with glass is not as simple as you may think. Safety is of paramount importance and the glazing has to be capable of structurally holding in position with loads imposed by people walking on it without the need for a physical barrier being fitted. Generally 24.5mm glass thickness would have be adequate however the customer chose to go to a 33.5mm toughened laminated safety glass system with 2 layers of 10mm clear toughened, a 10mm annealed sacrificial leaf and 2 x 1.5mm PVB interlayers. For the water feature 10mm clear toughened safety glass was used to prevent the ingress of leaves and twigs from entering the water system
